"The whole world is a stage, and the
people in it - actors," says William Shakespeare in the comedy "As
You Like It". Well, each of us really plays a certain role in this life.
And a lot depends on our talent, skills and professionalism. That is why
Theatre Day is not only a world, but also a universal holiday that has no
national or religious boundaries.
A little more about the history of theatre
The first mention of the theatre dates
back to 497 BC. In this year, according to written sources, a festival
dedicated to the god Dionysus was held in Greece for the first time. Wooden
scaffolds were built especially for it, on which poets, musicians and singers
appeared before the audience. A few years later, the wooden scaffolds were
replaced by round arenas surrounded by multi-tiered seats for the audience. In
fact, the appearance of such facilities is very similar to the appearance of a modern
circus.
In 55 BC, the first stone theater was
built in Rome, on the stage of which actors performed, recited poetry and sang
short songs, in which they repeated ancient Greek myths and legends.
History and traditions of World Theater Day
World Theater Day is celebrated on March 27. The holiday was created at the initiative of the International Theater Institute in 1961. For the first time, its celebration took place in 1962. The message to the figures of theatrical art was written by the cult French artist, writer and playwright Jean Cocteau.
World Theater Day is a professional
holiday of hundreds of thousands of people who have dedicated their lives to
the service of this great and beautiful art. Theater Day is celebrated very fun
and festively. There are concerts, meetings with favorite artists, seminars. On
this day, premiere productions in major leading theaters also take place.
