    The King's Four Wives

    The King's Four Wives

There once lived a ruler. He had four wives.

He loved his fourth wife the most. He provided her with the best, fed her the choicest feasts, dressed her in the most expensive clothes and indulged her every whim.

The king's other favorite was his third wife. She was glamorous and self-confident, and he was very proud of her and went to great lengths to get her noticed by others. He often showed it to other rulers. But the woman was capricious and fickle, and he feared she might leave him.

The ruler's second wife was kind, gentle and patient. He knew he could always lean on her and trust her in difficult times. But sometimes he neglected her because of the first two and did not give her the necessary attention and affection.

The king's first wife was the strongest and wisest of all his wives. She was quiet and inconspicuous, but she was always by his side. In difficult moments, she gave him the most confidence and courage, and the most valuable advice. She loved him deeply and unreservedly, but he did not think of her for years. He never asked her what she needed and very rarely took care of her.

One day the king fell seriously ill and realized that the end of his life was coming. In his last hour he ordered all his wives to be called one by one.

First came the fourth - his greatest favorite.

    – I loved you very much, more than anyone, I cared for you the most. You know I'm dying. will you come with me he asked her.

"Oh, that's impossible," answered the woman. "I'm sorry, but I have to leave you forever."

The king was upset and called his third wife. And he asked her the same question. But received a similar, even more disappointing response:

    – No, king, I cannot come with you. I will find a new master to take care of me. You know everybody wants to own me.

It was the second woman's turn.

    – You were so caring and patient with me. I'm dying and I want to ask you to come with me.

"I can only come with you to your grave, my lord," answered the woman. "From then on, you'll have to go it alone."

The king was devastated. In his last moment, he realized that all efforts and care for his beloved women were in vain.

At that moment, his first wife appeared. And she said quietly:

"I will come with you, my love." I will be with you always, wherever you go, whatever happens.

The king breathed a sigh of relief and thought, “I should have taken more care of her when I still could. How did I allow myself to neglect her at the expense of others who are now abandoning me."

Did you guess who the ruler's four wives are and who he is?

        The ruler is the man.

The fourth woman he cares for most diligently, feeds and clothes - this is his body. When you die, you inevitably part with your body.

The third woman is wealth, social status, fame and possessions. No matter how much we accumulate them and are proud of them, at the end of life they go to someone else.

The second wife is family and friends. Sometimes overlooked, they are there – kind and patient. But they can only send a man to his grave.

And the first woman is the human soul. Very often forgotten, left without food and support at the expense of everything else, it can become weak, stagnant and even sick. But it is always with us. And after death.

Take care of your soul. Do not neglect it at the expense of unnecessary and unimportant things. Make it strong and keep it clean. She is your strongest and faithful pillar, the most priceless gift that will accompany you in eternity.
