It's nice to relax with a glass
of beer and play football. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge enjoyed a pint and
a game of football at Newmarket Racecourse.
Kate Middleton and Prince
William were in high spirits as they arrived at the first ever Cambridgeshire
County Day on Thursday afternoon.
During the celebration, which
included competitions, performances and more than 100 stalls, thousands of
people raised money for charity, but it was Kate and Prince William who caught
the eye.
Kate was wearing a colorful
dress and platform sandals, but that didn't stop her from picking up the soccer
ball and kicking it into the goal in front of the impressed crowd. Before
trying it on, Kate warned people that it would be difficult for her to kick in
these shoes.
After putting the ball into the
net, the duchess shook the hand of a boy playing before her and said: "You
did better than me." Because she really enjoyed playing soccer.
Prince William, who had a
birthday this week, decided not to be left behind and joined the ball despite
wearing a navy blue suit and suede shoes.
Afterwards, she and Prince
William drank cold beer to cool off as they chatted animatedly with several
stallholders and sampled some chocolate too.
The event featured 120 stands
from Cambridgeshire exhibitors, charities and people from the community.
Earlier yesterday, William and
Kate were at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge to unveil a newly commissioned
dazzling portrait of them - the first since they have been together as a
couple.
